The group was created by producer Frank Farian in 1975 and was composed of four West Indian artists working in London, Germany and the Netherlands: singers Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell, model Maizie Williams and DJ Bobby Farrell. Boney M is noted for the mix of white and black music—the producer Farian is white and the singers are black; significantly many songs are black (freedom) songs, for example "No More Chain Gang" in the album Oceans Of Fantasy. Farian first released the single "Baby Do You Wanna Bump?" in 1975, under the name Boney M. He performed the sparse vocals of the song himself. The song went on to become a hit and it was then that Farian decided to hire a team of dancers and vocalists to 'front' the group.

Children Of Paradise Lyrics

Boney M.

We are children of paradise
When the lord created us
All his work was through
Then the children of paradise
Did the only thing
They really shouldnt do
Children of paradise
We started out there
Full of innocence in our eyes
And without a care
Were children of paradise
We knew of no crime
Until one of the meanest lines
Has changed our time
It was long ago
In the early morning glow
When it all began
With adam and eve
They were young and free
And for all eternity
They were meant to feel
No trouble, no grief
Children of paradise
We started out there
Full of innocence in our eyes
And without a care
Were children of paradise
In search of the light
That was put out in paradise
And started the night
It was long ago
In the early morning glow
When it all began
With adam and eve
They were young and free
And for all eternity
They were meant to feel
No trouble, no grief
We are children of paradise
When the lord created us
All his work was through
Then the children of paradise
Did the only thing
They really shouldnt do
Aaahhh...
Were children of paradise
Who didnt obey
When we followed the wrong advice
We wandered astray
Were children of paradise
In search of the light
That was put out in paradise
And started the night
It was long ago
In the early morning glow
When it all began
With adam and eve
They were young and free
And for all eternity...
